‘She has brought many pro-people, schemes to Mandya’

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that no other party in the country can ensure social justice like the Congress.

The Chief Minister, along with several prominent leaders of the party, launched the election campaign for the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency at Malavalli on Thursday.

Addressing a huge gathering at the taluk stadium, Mr. Siddaramaiah said the Congress had a history of striving for the uplift of the downtrodden.

Appealing to people to vote for Ramya, the Congress candidate in Mandya, Mr. Siddaramaiah cautioned the voters not to fall victim to what he termed the “hidden agenda” of Janata Dal (Secular) national president H.D. Deve Gowda and his family members.

Criticising the JD(S) and the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Chief Minister complimented Ms. Ramya for “working like mercury” in the constituency. She was young and enthusiastic. She had already brought several development schemes to the constituency in a short span of time, he said.

P.M. Narendra Swamy, Malavalli MLA, listed out various pro-people and pro-poor schemes, including Anna Bhagya and Ksheera Bhagya, launched by the Congress government in the State.

He said that a large number of families belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and minority communities had benefited from these schemes.

Appealing to the voters to support Ms. Ramya, Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar said that she got a Rs. 200-crore grant for a drinking water project, a cancer hospital, Kendriya Vidyalaya and other projects sanctioned for Mandya.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara, Ministers Roshan Baig and H.S. Mahadev Prasad, Ms. Ramya and others spoke.
