Retired IAS officer Siddaiah, who has been chosen as the Congress candidate from Sakleshpur in the coming Assembly elections, is yet to take primary membership of the party. He is expected to take the membership later today after submitting his resignation to the government committees he has been part of. Later in the evening he will reach Sakleshpur.
When The Hindu contacted him on Monday, Mr. Siddaiah said he was on his way to submit resignations to the committees. He is a member of Lake Expert Committee, besides another committee to review Revised Master Plan 2031 for Bengaluru.
He has been serving on various committees since he retired as IAS officer five years ago. Earlier he was part of a committee on BBMP bifurcation.
As IAS officer he held the posts of Commissioner of BBMP and BDA, besides many other important posts.
Siddaiah, a native of Harohalli near Kanakapura, is a new face in Sakleshpur, a reserved constituency. “I have many good friends in Sakleshpur. I have known the place for the past 40 years,” he said.
The party's decision to field him from Sakleshpur has not gone down well with a section of party workers in Hassan.
