B.S. Yeddyurappa, president of the State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party and Shivamogga MP, has said that the work on Shivamogga-Shikaripur-Ranebennur railway line will commence soon.
He was speaking after offering bagina for Anjanapur reservoir in Shikaripur taluk on Thursday. The water level in Anjanapur reservoir constructed across the Kumudvathi has reached full reservoir level. The total live storage capacity of the reservoir is at 2.50 tmcft. It irrigates 6,736 hectares in Shikaripur taluk.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yeddyurappa said the survey work on the Shivamogga-Shikaripur-Ranebennur line has already been completed. An amount of ₹939 crore was required for commissioning the project. He said the Ministry of Railways would commence the work soon.
Mr. Yeddyurappa also reiterated upon his desire to contest the forthcoming Assembly election from Shikaripur constituency. Shikaripur MLA B.Y. Raghavendra, former member of Rajya Sabha Ayanur Manjunath, and president of Bharatiya Janata Party district unit Rudre Gowda were present.
