Sharanamma Sahukar elected Yadgir ZP chief

Sharanamma Anand Sahukar, Congress member from Devatkal constituency in Surpur taluk, was elected unanimously as the new president of the Yadgir Zilla Panchayat for the remaining tenure of 10 months.

Regional Commissioner of Kalaburagi Amlan Aditya Biswas, who conducted the elections in Yadgir on Wednesday, declared Ms. Sahukar as the new president. In the house of 22 members, the Congress has a majority with 15 members and the Bharatiya Janata Party has just seven.

In the election meeting, out of the total 22 members 20 were present. Earlier, Ms. Sahukar and Shrenik Kumar Dhokla had filed their nominations for the post.

However, Mr. Dhokla withdrew his nomination later. The president’s post is reserved for the general category. Chief Executive Officer P. Sunil Kumar and others were present.
