‘Shaadi Bhagya scheme was a budget promise’

November 02, 2013 12:12 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 11:27 pm IST - Bangalore:

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has lashed out at the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on his agitation demanding extension of the Shaadi Bhagya scheme to brides of all communities and asked him why he had “woken up to the problems of the poor” only now.

Speaking on the sidelines of a Rajyotsava function here on Friday, he said that the Shaadi Bhagya scheme — meant for Muslim women — was a budget promise that was being implemented.

On the Criminal Investigation Department report on the Ujire rape and murder case, he said that he was yet to read it in full. A decision to hand over the case to the CBI would be taken only after he studied the first report, he said.
