Eleven activists of the Students Federation of India (SFI) and the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) were detained by the police on Sunday after they shouted slogans against Governor H.R. Bhardwaj when his car was passing in front of the Tumkur University gate. They were released later.

The activists were demanding restoration of the old logo of the university, which, they said depicted the rich culture and heritage of Tumkur district. The logo was changed by the former Vice-Chancellor S.C. Sharma.
