Seven-year-old rape victim found to have brain tumour

A seven-year-old girl, who was raped by her cousin, has been diagnosed with brain tumour and admitted to NIMHANS, Bengaluru.

Though the incident took place a few days ago, the complaint was filed only on Thursday after the girl developed health complications.

The class 2 student fainted on Thursday and was taken to a private hospital in Chickballapur. During consultations, the parents told doctors about the assault.

The accused – Harish (20), a resident of Jeeganahalli of Mandikal hobli in Chickballapur district – used to visit his uncle’s house regularly and is said to have abused his cousin. He took shelter in a relative’s house, and was arrested from Perumakalapalli near Amadagur in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday night. A case under POCSO Act has been registered.

Meanwhile, in another case, the Chintamani Rural police in Chickballapur district arrested Vishwanath, a rape accused. He was absconding after raping a minor girl on the pretext of giving her a drop to Chintamani on Wednesday.

She has been admitted to NIMHANS
