Seven arrested for illegal sale of liquor

Hassan police arrested seven persons on charges of selling liquor illegally on Wednesday evening, during raids conducted in five different places in the District in view of Gram Panchayat elections. Liquor worth Rs. 18,085 seized.

The arrested are Chandranna (37) of Mallapura in Belur taluk, Somashekhar (35) of Kyatalapura in Halebidu hobli, Manjunath (33) of Ponnathapura in Halebidu hobli, Kumaranaik (35) and Annanaika (37) of Koranahalli in Arasikere taluk, Nanjappa (68) of Byaladakere in Arasikere taluk and Shive Gowda (42) of Gandasi in Arasikere taluk.

The police seized liquor bottles from the arrested. They have been remanded to judicial custody.
