Principal District and Sessions Judge B.V. Patil on Thursday convicted and sentenced Pandit Noola to two-and-a-half years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 10,33,777 on him for possessing illegal property and disproportionate assests.

Mr. Noola, who served as Assistant Horticulture officer and Assistant Director in Horticulture Department between 1974 and 1997, earned Rs.14.29 lakh illegally against his salary income.

Mr Noola will undergo additional six months of imprisonment if he failed to pay the penalty.
