Seer: preserve and protect Kannada

March 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - CHITRADURGA:

Regional languages and traditional values are facing a threat owing to liberalisation and globalisation and it is the responsibility of every individual in the State to fight for the protection and preservation of Kannada, Shivamurthy Muruga Sharana has said.

He was here to inaugurate a workshop on the ‘Usage of Kannada language’ organised by SJM Arts, Science and Commerce College and the Davangere University Lecturers Forum on Monday.

The seer said that though liberalisation and globalisation had some good impact, there was a possibility of Kannada losing its importance owing to the advent of other languages, including English.
