The forest and police department personnel, led by the officials of Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary, resumed combing operations to trace the tiger in the Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary, a protected area of the Western Ghats on Friday morning.

The team consisting of 80 to 100 personnel, including wildlife expert Sanjay Gubbi and four other experts, besides two veterinary doctors, moved deep into the forest to recapture the tiger, which was captured near Mullayanagiri Hills of Chikkaballapura four days ago and later released into the BWS near Talawade village of Khanapur taluk on Wednesday.

The efforts of the team on Thursday were in vain as the elusive tiger was said to have moved deeper into the forests, 3 kms away from Talawade village.

Prashant P.K.M., Assistant Conservator of Forests told The Hindu that every effort was being undertaken to trace the big cat, even as the dense forest terrain was causing some difficulty for the search team.
