September 21, 2014 11:04 am | Updated 11:04 am IST - Bangalore:

Bringing relief to medical seat aspirants in the State, the Supreme Court has given the nod to fill 380 more seats this year while disposing of applications filed by several medical colleges across the country against the Medical Council of India’s decision to annul the seats.

Confirming this, Minister of State for Medical Education Sharanprakash Patil said that now, KIMS would get 30 seats, BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences 150 seats, and JSS Medical College, Mysore; JNMC, Belgaum; Al-Ameen, Bijapur, and Yenepoya, Mangalore, would get 50 seats each. Dr. Patil said he would take legal advise before starting another round of counselling for allotting the seats within 10 days as stipulated by the court, as it had not extended the time for admissions. He said the ongoing extended counselling to fill 115 seats would conclude on September 26.
