Sakala launched in Mysore

Karnataka is the 10th State in the country to introduce the Act

Sakala or the Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizens Act, 2011, was launched here on Monday.

Minister for Medical Education and district in-charge S.A. Ramdas inaugurated it at the tahsildar's office on Hunsur Road by clicking on the Sakala website — www.sakala.kar.nic.in.

A total of 151 services of 11 major government Officials of the respective government departments have the responsibility of providing services sought by the citizens under the Act within a stipulated time. If they fail to do so, penalty would be imposed on the erring official.

Karnataka is the 10th State in the country to introduce the Act. Also, Karnataka is the only State that is providing 151 services under the Act.

Mr. Ramdas said an awareness rally would be conducted in May to educate the people, especially those in rural areas, about Sakala. A.H. Vishwanath, Mysore MP, also spoke. Principal Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Amita Prasad, who is the district in-charge Secretary, was present during the occasion.
