The 81st Kannada Sahitya Sammelan is likely to be held for three days from February 1. The Hassan district unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, here on Sunday, decided to suggest these dates to the central unit of the parishat, which will take the final decision. The parishat has decided to hold the sammelan in Shravanabelagola in Channarayapatna taluk.

Speaking at the first preliminary meeting, Charukeerti Bhattaraka Swami of Jain Math, Shravanbelgoala, said: “We have got a chance to host the sammelan at Shravanbelgola after 47 years. The event can be successful only when everybody takes part in the arrangements with enthusiasm. I can see enthusiasm in everybody’s face and that makes me feel that the event will be successful this time.” The former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, who inaugurated the meeting, said he would extend all support to the organisers.
