A two-day seminar on R.V. Bhandari and Children’s Literature will be inaugurated on February 6 at Lions Hall, Sirsi, under the auspices of Sahitya Academy (Southern Regional Office, Bangalore).
The inaugural session will be held at 11 a.m. with the inaugural speech by litterateur G.K. Govindrao. Writer Fakir Mohammad Katpadi will release a book and litterateur Siddalinga Pattanashetty will preside over the session.
The first session will be held at 2 p.m. and theatre persons H.S. Umesh, Nagabhushan Sharma and Shreepad Bhat will speak on “Changing conceptions of children’s drama”.
The second session will be held at 4.30 p.m. and theatre persons K.G. Krishnamurthy, Kiran Bhat and Padma Kodagu will speak on “Children’s drama: major experiments”. Iqbal Ahmed will preside over the session.
On February 7, theatre persons P. Abdulla, I.K. Boluvar and Sushma will speak on “Children’s drama: major experiments” in the third session at 9.30 a.m. Writer Chintamani Kodlakere will preside over the session.
Writers Mahabaleshwar Rao, H. Kumarswami and Chennakeshava will speak on “Education and theatre” in the fourth session at 11.30 a.m. Writer Lingadevaru Halemane will chair the session.
Writers Shridhar Balgar and Shashikanta Yedahalli will speak on “R.V. Bhandari’s children’s plays”. Writer Kotaganalli Ramaiah will chair the session.
The valedictory function will be held at 5 p.m. Writer B.V. Rajaram will be the guest of honour. The valedictory speech will be delivered by writer Vayala Vasudev Pillai. Writer B.A. Sanadi will chair the function.
