K.S. Eshwarappa, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, has asserted that though D.V. Sadananda Gowda was shifted from Railways to Law and Justice, the BJP will ensure the implementation of all railway projects in the State.
Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, he refuted speculation that Mr. Gowda was removed from the post of Railway Minister as he was found inefficient.
“It is the prerogative of the Prime Minister to decide who should get what portfolio. It certainly does not mean that Mr. Gowda was inefficient. However, the reason for his removal is best known to the Prime Minister,” Mr. Eshwarappa said.
Regarding the demand by seers of the State to enact an anti-superstition law, Mr. Eshwarappa said that religious beliefs were a personal matter and the government should not interfere.
“All I can say that the government must take people into confidence before bringing in any such law,” Mr. Eshwarappa said.
Mr. Eshwarappa said the BJP would continue its agitation till the Congress dropped Ministers K.J. George, Dinesh Gundu Rao, H.S. Mahadev Prasad and Qamarul Islam.
He said that the Congress dropped Santosh Lad from the Ministry when allegations were made against him and documents were shown and sought to know why the party was hesitating to follow similar norms for other Ministers who were facing charges of irregularities and misuse of power.
