The inauguration of Sri Shivarathreeshwara Mangala Mantapa at Nanjangud on Friday brought Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda and his predecessor, B.S. Yeddyurappa, on a common platform.

Throughout the function, Mr. Yeddyurappa seemed pensive. By the time he reached the venue, the former Chief Minister had received the information that the Supreme Court had ordered a CBI probe against him.

Shivakumara Swami of Siddaganga Math and Mr. Gowda lit the lamp to inaugurate the function. In his speech, Mr. Gowda said maths such as the Siddaganga Math and Suttur Math were doing much for society and the government could do with suggestions and advice from them. “We have great respect for maths. They have done what the government could not,” he said.

The Suttur Math's contribution in the field of education was commendable, and the Centre too had appreciated JSS Mahavidyapeetha's work, he added.

R. Dhruvanarayana, Chamarajanagar MP; V. Sreenivasa Prasad, Nanjangud MLA; Siddeshwara Swami of Gnanayogashram, Bijapur; and Mysore district in-charge Minister S.A. Ramdas spoke.

Shivaratri Deshikendra Swami of Suttur Math, religious heads and elected representatives from various places were present.
