He warns of the possibility of naxals fleeing to Karnataka
The Legislative Council on Tuesday paid tributes to the political leaders and police officials who died in the naxal attack in Chhattisgarh. Tributes were also paid to eight prominent personalities, including the former Karnataka Governor V.S. Ramadevi.
The victims of naxal attack were included in the list of obituary references by the House as Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council and former Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda took everyone by surprise by paying homage to them in addition to the eight persons who were mentioned in the official list.
Even the ruling party members hailed Mr. Gowda’s gesture. Using this opportunity, Mr. Gowda warned the Congress government that there was a possibility of Karnataka turning into a hideout for naxals from Chhattisgarh as anti-naxal operations were bound to gain intensity in the State.
Earlier, the House paid tributes to Ms. Ramadevi, industrialist D.K. Adiskeshavalu and former MP, the former Minister M.N. Naganur and the former MLAs Pundalikappa Ishwarappa Jnanamote and Kashirayanagouda Devanagouda Patil, playback singer P.B. Srinivas, mathematician Shakuntala Devi and violin maestro Lalgudi Jayaraman.
