Karnataka Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, who was elected to the State’s legislative council in the December 22 by-election, on Wednesday met Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar here and submitted his resignation as the member of the Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha seat.

He also met senior BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari, L.K. Advani and Rajnath Singh and discussed about the political situation in the State in view of troubles being created by expelled BJP leader B. Sriramulu and former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa’s moves to recapture power in Karnataka. State BJP president K.S. Eswarappa was present at the meeting.

Mr. Gowda also hosted lunch to the MPs of the State to thank them for their cooperation during his stint as the LS member. Notable participant of the luncheon meeting was former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, who had a one-to-one meeting with the Chief Minister for some time.
