Youth Congress activists from Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency on Monday held a demonstration in front of the bust of Mahatma Gandhi on Vani Vilas Road and later burnt the effigy of Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde over his recent comments.

The protesters demanded apology from the Minister for his alleged remarks against Leader of Congress party in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjuna Kharge during the BJP’s Parivarthana Rally in Kalaburagi recently. Without knowing of Mr. Kharge’s contributions to the Hyderabad-Karnataka region, Mr. Hegde had accused the leader during the rally, they charged.

They threatened to lay siege to programmes attended by Mr. Hegde if he didn’t apologise. They demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi drop Mr. Hegde from his Ministry immediately.
