Rutu Murgod wins silver in the National School Games

Upcoming swimmer from Belagavi Rutu Murgod bagged a silver medal at the National School Games 2014 at Rajkot in Gujarat from February17 to 22.

According to a release , Rutu represented Karnataka in the swimming competitions in which about 1,500 swimmers in the age group of 14 to 19 years participated. She faced tough competition from swimmers from Maharashtra, but swam to clinch a silver medal in the 4x100 M Medley Relay in the under 14 years girls’ group.

A student of Class 8 at the SKE Society’s M.R. Bhandari High School, Rutu is a member of the Swimmer's Club and Aquarius Swim Club, Belagavi and practising at the Rotary Corporation Sports Academy’s swimming pool here under the guidance of Guruprasad Tangankar, Ajinkya Mendke, Akshay Sheregar and Nitish Kuduchkar, said swim coach Prasad Tendolkar.
