Crowds rushed to the Dyamavva temple in Halaki village in Belagavi district on Wednesday, after someone reported he had seen tear drops in the eyes of the idol.

The black stone idol is decorated with a green saree and some jewellery. The priest has put up silver eye patches on the idol’s eyes. The “tear drops” were reportedly seen coming from behind the left eye patch by a person who went to the temple in the morning to pray.

Word spread and soon half the village was at the temple gates. Police personnel from Saundatti were rushed to the village to control the crowd.
