RSS, ABVP needlessly creating trouble, says Satish Jarkiholi

Former Minister and Congress MLA from Yamkanmardi in Belagavi district, Satish L. Jarkiholi, has criticised the RSS and ABVP for “creating trouble on emotional issues” in different parts of the country.

In a brief chat with newsmen here on Monday, he said there were many issues before the nation and State which need to be collectively addressed to. Playing with emotional issues was not good for peace and harmony. But, the RSS and ABVP have been creating trouble for the government only to serve their own agenda under the pretext of patriotism, he alleged.

As far as the anti-India slogan shouting at the Amnesty International’s event in Bengaluru is concerned, the State police have already registered a case and are investigating. It would be unfair to ban the entire organisation.

Mr.Jarkiholi, who heads a state-wide campaign for socio-economic uplift of dalits and economically weaker sections through his ‘stay at graveyard’ programmes, drew attention towards growing attacks on dalits in different parts of the country. He said there were communities within dalits whose main avocation was skinning dead animals since centuries. Their work should be seen as a profession, like any other profession, without create emotional divide and communal disharmony in society.
