The Hyderabad Karnataka Region Development Board (HKRDB) has joined hands with the Kalaburagi City Corporation and the Kalaburagi Urban Development Authority (KUDA) to take up a comprehensive beautification programme in the much neglected Kalaburagi at a cost of Rs 84.25 crore.
The second meeting of the 16 member committee headed by Municipal Administration and Minority Welfare Minister Qamarul Islam with officials from all the departments and chairman of the KUDA Ashfaq Chulbul which met in Kalaburagi on Tuesday gave its seal of approval to the proposal of Rs 84.85 crore prepared by the KUDA in this regard.
The proposals includes the widening of the existing roads with paved footpaths, drains and utility ducts, construction of foot-over bridge in the busy locations, improvement of atleast 100 gardens with walking racks, lawn plantation, Gymnasiums, play pens, construction of the public toilets and mobile urinals using the bio-digester technology and other facilities.
Mr. Islam directed the GESCOM officials present in the meeting to use the underground cables in all the roads which are being taken up for widening and the BSNL authorities should also coordinate with the city corporation and KUDA officials while moving their underground cables and should use the utility ducts in all these roads for placing their underground cables. “The road cutting of the roads covered under the comprehensive beautification programme would not be allowed at any cost by any agency in future”.
The Minister said that HKRDB would provide its share for the project and the KUDA and the city corporation would also chip in with their contribution for taking up the much needed beautification work in the city. “we would also seek additional funds from the state government and also move the central government to provide assistance to take up the beautification work in the city”.
