Shivamogga: Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education and in-charge of the district Kimmane Rathnakar has said the State government would soon release Rs. 78 lakh to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) for conducting a fresh technical survey on Shivamogga airport project.

Earlier, a technical committee from the AAI had recommended trimming the height of chimneys of a few industries near the proposed airport site and shifting of a 220-kV electricity line that passes through the area to ensure safe operation of flights.

In the wake of difficulties in operating the flights, the AAI had said a fresh technical survey should be conducted on the project.
