The Union Ministry of Water Resources released a grant of Rs. 54.27 crore to the State government recently, to complete 197 ongoing minor irrigation projects under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP), including 17 schemes in Belgaum.
According to Suresh C. Angadi, MP, here on Thursday, Rs.19.52 crore is reserved for 17 schemes to provide irrigation to 1,270 ha in the Belgaum Parliamentary Constituency.
The works to be completed are construction of bridge-cum-barrages (BCBs) across local nallas near Sangolli (Kendanur) village (Rs. 75 lakhs),; BCB across Mattikuni Halla near Siddasamudra (Rs. 65 lakh); BCB across Tattihalla Halla near Devarshigihalli (Rs. 100 lakh); construction of barrage across Parasanattihalla near Marigeri village (Rs. 60 lakh); BCB across Murkibhavi nalla near Udikeri (Rs. 75 lakh); BCB across Markandeya river near Alataga (Rs. 130 lakh); construction of minor irrigation tank Bekkinkeri village (Rs. 128 lakh); BCB across nalla near Hosu-Hosahalli (Rs. 155 lakh); BCBs across Malaprabha river near Killa Tonaga (Rs. 170 lakh) and Sunnal (Rs. 150 lakh); local nalla near Kalahal (Rs. 190 lakh); near Ghataknur (Rs. 134 lakh); barrage across Markandeya river near Yalebail-Sonoli (Rs. 90 lakh); BCB across Pattihal Halla near Savatagi near Bailhongal (Rs. 80 lakh); BCB across Sangolli halla near Belwadi (Rs. 100 lakh); BCB across Malaprabha river near Basargi of Savadatti taluk (Rs. 170 lakh); and BCB across Chikkahalla near Sangreshkoppa of Savadatti taluk (Rs. 80 lakh).
