Rs. 250 crore sought for development of Lambani tandas

Jalaja Naik, chairperson, Karnataka Tanda Development Corporation, has said that she has requested Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to set aside Rs. 250 crore in the budget for the development of Lambani tandas.

She told presspersons here on Thursday that there were 3,351 tandas in the State of which 337 were declared revenue villages and yet they had remained underdeveloped. Efforts were on to develop them, Ms. Naik said.

She said that the corporation had proposed to earmark Rs. 75 crore to enable the residents of tandas to take up dairy farming besides initiating steps for the development of the Lambani language. A meeting of litterateurs and linguistic experts was being convened too.
