Land earmarkedMUDA’s emphasis on satellite townships is expected to decongest the city.
It has earmarked 485 acres of land for the satellite town at Ballahalli and 500 acres of land for Kochnahalli in Varuna hobli.
The new residential layouts, for which administrative approval is expected soon, include Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Nagar, Swarna Jayanti Nagar, Lal Bahadur Shastry Nagar 2nd stage, Lalitadrinagar 2nd stage, Ravindranath Tagore Nagar 2nd stage and Shantaveri Gopalgowda Nagar 2nd stage.
The preliminary notification for the development of these layouts was issued in 2005–06 and 2006–07. A total of Rs. 21 crore has been set aside for the purpose.
MUDA has acquired land for the purpose and completed the groundwork for Krishnaraja Wadiyar Nagar, near Lingambudhi and Yadahalli villages, spread over 205.12 acres, while Swarna Jayanti Nagar will come up in Chowdahalli and Halau villages spread over 181.05 acres. In view of the premium on land and its scarcity, MUDA will construct 1 BHK, 2BHK and 3BHK flats as part of a pilot project under the group housing scheme. A total of 500 units will be built on a no profit, no loss basis under Public Private Partnership mode.
A sum of Rs. 1 crore has been set aside for the purpose.
The budget also proposes to widen the roads under four railway overpasses leading to the Outer Ring Road from two lanes to six. MUDA has sent a proposal to the JNNURM authorities. It has set aside Rs. 8 crore for the purpose and expects Rs. 80.89 crore from the Union government. When the widening is completed, it will reduce traffic bottlenecks.
Elected representatives, including Tanveer Sait, Vasu, M.K. Somashekar, MLAs, and Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha were present.
