Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah was on Sunday sworn in as the Governor of Karnataka at a function held at the Raj Bhavan.
Chief Justice of the High Court of Karnataka D.H. Waghela administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Rosaiah, who will hold the additional charge of the State till a new Governor is appointed.
H.R. Bhardwaj was given a farewell on Saturday upon completion of his term as Karnataka Governor.
Mr. Rosaiah took the oath in the name of god and said that he would uphold the Constitution. Prominent personalities who congratulated him were Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Chairman of the Legislative Council D.H. Shankaramurthy, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Kagodu Thimmappa, Lokayukta Y. Bhaskar Rao, Law and Parliamentary Minister T.B. Jayachandra, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister H.K. Patil, Minister of State for Medical Education Sharanprakash Patil, and MP and former Union Minister K.H. Muniyappa.
Later, according to protocol, Mr. Waghela, Mr. Siddaramaiah and Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee escorted Mr. Rosaiah up to the entrance of the Raj Bhavan. Officers and staff of the Raj Bhavan greeted and welcomed the new Governor.
