With the Supreme Court clearing the decks for private medical colleges and other institutions to declare the results of entrance examinations conducted by them for admissions to postgraduate, MBBS and dental courses for 2013-14, various examination authorities in the State will decide the next course of action on Tuesday.
Speaking to The Hindu on Monday, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Vice-Chancellor Sriprakash K.S. said university officials would discuss the court verdict on the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) on Tuesday (as Monday was a public holiday). “The valuation for the Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET) is long over. We were just waiting for the SC direction. We will seek legal opinion on Tuesday and take a decision,” he said. As many as 10,977 students wrote the PGET conducted by the RGUHS on March 3.
Similarly, the Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK), which conducted the PGET for admissions to 12 medical and 19 dental colleges in the State, will also take a call on the date of announcement of results on Tuesday.
Answer keys today
However, A.S. Srikanth, chief executive, COMEDK, said the answer keys to the exam held on February 3, which was attended by 18,713 students, will be published by Tuesday evening. He also said that a few steps may have to be skipped this time to put the procedure back on track.
“The Supreme Court has not extended time for admissions. Usually, we invite objections after publishing the answer keys, then publish the scores and invite objections again. We may have to skip some steps this time,” he said.
CET on track
Officials of the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), which conducted the Common Entrance Test (CET) for undergraduate professional courses, said the results of the exam conducted on May 1, 2 and 3 would be announced as scheduled on May 27.
