Revanna sees undue favour for taluks under Congress MLAs

Janata Dal(S) leader and former Minister H.D. Revanna on Tuesday said that a majority of the taluks that were declared drought-hit come under the purview of the constituencies represented by Congress MLAs.

The government has declared 64 taluks drought-hit owing to deficient rainfall during the 2013 south-west monsoon.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Revanna alleged that the government had discriminated against the Opposition MLAs by denying drought-hit tag to taluks in their jurisdiction.

Though the Deputy Commissioner of Hassan district had recommended to the government that Channarayapatna and Arsikere taluks be declared drought-hit, the Congress government had declared Belur and Arkalgud taluks drought-hit, he said.

He said the Congress government has been showing undue favour to constituencies represented by its MLAs and that his party will raise these issues in the Legislature session in Belgaum.
