H.D. Revanna, Janata Dal (Secular) MLA, on Monday staged a protest at Udayapura in Channarayapatna taluk, along with his supporters, condemning the alleged delay in completing the second stage of Kachenahalli Lift Irrigation Project. The protesters alleged that the State government had not fulfilled its promise to complete the second stage of the project by July-end.
Mr. Revanna said, the Congress leaders were claiming credit for executing the project. “The administrative approval for the project was given during the Janata Dal (Secular)-BJP coalition rule. Residents of villages know the reality, although the Congress leaders were trying to mislead them. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, during his visit to inaugurate the project, had assured the people that the second stage would be completed by July-end. The government has not kept its promise,” he said. Mr. Revanna said that if the government failed to complete the project in the next 10 days, he would join the village residents and complete the work. “Along with the people, we will complete the work. I will face the consequences,” he said.
Stating that he had worked out a project to provide drinking water to over 100 villages in Dandiganahalli Hobli in Channarayapatna taluk from Hemavati river, he said, “I will ensure that all villages in the hobli get drinking water.”
C.N. Balakrishna, Shravanabelagola MLA, and others took part in the protest.
Administrative approval for the scheme had been given during JD(S)-BJP rule.
