Retired police personnel protesting outside Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mandya on Wednesday.

The retired police personnel from different parts of the district staged a demonstration here on Wednesday demanding benefits of the Karnataka Police Health Welfare trust.

Nearly 100 persons, who had served at different police stations and police subdivisions, participated in the protest that held outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Shouting slogans and carrying placards, they said that police personnel play pivotal role in maintaining law and order and dedicate their life to the protection of civilians.

The retired police personnel cannot meet the medical expenses as the prices of all essential commodities were increasing. Therefore, the State government should consider extending the benefits of the welfare trust to those who had retired, they requested.

The protestors also wanted the extension of some other welfare schemes to the retired police personnel and requested the Home Minister K.G. George to fulfil their demands.
