Retired judge chosen for award

Shivaraj Patil, retired judge of the Supreme Court, has been chosen for the Guru Basava award instituted by the Basava Seva Pratishtana here.

He has been selected for his duty as a judge and selfless service to the society after retirement, Akka Annapurna, head of the trust told presspersons on Friday.

The award will be presented at the Vachana Vijayotsava in Basava Giri in Bidar on February 1. The fest will start with a procession of Vachanas in which folk artistes from around the State would participate. Several scholars of Basava philosophy would speak in various sessions for the next three days, she added.
