Responding to the allegations of horse trading in view of Rajya Sabha elections, Minister for Social Welfare H. Anjaneya said that Congress had never indulged in resort politics. He was speaking to presspersons at Yermarus Circuit House on the outskirts of Raichur on Tuesday.
“The Congress party has never had an inevitability getting into unethical horse trading for assuming power either at the State or at the Central level. Some of the Karnataka legislators going on a tour in group to Mumbai or elsewhere might have been their personal choice. Congress party has nothing to do with it. None of our Ministers has accompanied them,” he said.
The Minister exuded confidence over his party’s performance in the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls. “Our party candidates will definitely win the polls as they have the consolidated support of both party and independent legislators.”
Asked about the resignation tendered by Anupama Shenoy, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kudligi Sub-division in Ballari district, Mr. Anjaneya said that the final call would be taken by Home Minister G. Parameshwar.
“The officer must have resigned for her personal reasons. The Home Department will decide on whether convincing her to come back to the office or accepting her resignation. Congress always encourages honest officers. It never harasses committed public servants,” he said.
B.V. Naik, Raichur Lok Sabha Member; N.S. Boseraju, MLC; A. Vasanth Kumar, president of District Congress Committee and chairman of Tungabhadra Command Area Development Authority, were present.
