M. Kurmarao, Chief Executive Officer, Raichur Zilla Panchayat, faced the people’s ire in Burdipad, Chandrabanda, Sarjapur and Devasugur villages in Raichur taluk on Thursday evening when he visited these villages to take stock of the drinking water crisis.

Mr. Rao was accompanied by ZP officials. Residents expressed their anguish over the negligence of the officials in attending to the crisis. They said that most borewells in the village had already run dry and dysfunctional pumpsets were not replaced. Electricity was not supplied to completed overhead tanks. The officials had failed to take initiatives to ensure proper drinking water supply despite of several reminders, they alleged.

Mr. Rao assured them of that he would immediately take action and provide them with drinking water after discussing the matter with the concerned officials.
