A detailed project report for the proposed high-speed bullet train from Chennai to Mysore via Bangalore will be ready by December, according to Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani.
Announcing this at a meet-the-press programme organised by the Bangalore Reporters' Guild here on Friday, the Minister said that the cost of the project and various parameters would be known only after the submission of the report.
This is one of the several projects to be showcased at the global investors' meet.
Later, in an informal chat with presspersons, Mr. Nirani said that the project would cost approximately Rs. 150 crore per kilometre.
It may be possible to reach Mysore from Bangalore in less than 30 minutes by bullet train, Mr. Nirani said while pointing out that the train will have a maximum speed of 350 kmph.
The architect of Japan's bullet train will deliver a technical lecture on bullet train during the investors' meet, he said.
In the second phase, the Government wanted to operate bullet train from Bangalore to Belgaum through Hubli.
Another important project to be showcased at the investors' meet was a 20-km tunnel to be dug on a stretch from Sakleshpur to Gundia on Bangalore-Mangalore National Highway to reduce the travelling time by about 90 minutes in a bid to create better connectivity to Mangalore port, the Minister said.
