The Election Commission on Saturday ordered re-polling in 12 booths in nine parliamentary constituencies in the State. The re-polling would be held on April 29 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Re-polling has been ordered in 11 booths owing to technical problems in the electronic voting machines (EVMs) used. Re-polling has been ordered in one booth in Turuvekere Assembly segment in the Tumkur LS constituency as a polling official was found casting votes after the polling ended at 6. p.m. on April 17, according to sources in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer in Bangalore.
The re-polling is to be held in polling booth no. 165 at Kodla village in Sedam Assembly segment of the Gulbarga Lok Sabha constituency; polling booth no. 57 in Ranebennur Assembly segment of the Haveri LS constituency; polling booth no. 27 in Jamkhandi Assembly segment and polling booth no. 7 in Bagalkot Assembly segment of the Bagalkot LS constituency; polling booth no. 216 in Sindagi Assembly segment of the Bijapur LS constituency; polling booths no. 35 and 112 in Shahapur and Yadgir Assembly segment of the Raichur LS constituency; polling booth no. 20 and 201 in Bidar Assembly segment of the Bidar LS constituency; polling booth no. 174 in Byndoor Assembly segment of the Shimoga LS constituency; polling booth no. 72 in Arsikere Assembly segment of the Hassan LS constituency; and polling booth no. 8 in Turuvekere Assembly segment in the Tumkur LS constituency.
The commission has notified that the model code of conduct will come into effect immediately in these constituencies.
