Reduction in prices of petroleum fuel may cut Karnataka’s revenues by Rs. 400 crore: CM

November 28, 2014 01:23 pm | Updated 01:23 pm IST - KALABURAGI:

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said Karnataka would suffer a shortfall of about Rs 400 crore in revenue collection from the sale of petrol and diesel this year due to the fall in the prices of the fuel.

He told The Hindu here that there was no intimation yet from the Union government on making good this loss suffered by the State.

Mr. Siddaramaiah said there was no immediate proposal to bring down the passenger fares in the buses operated by the State transport corporations. In fact none of the public transport corporations in the country had reduced the passenger fares in tune with the reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel as the public transport system itself was already running under heavy loss, he noted.

However, He said, the government would consider the reduction in the passenger fares if there was further reduction in the prices of the diesel.
