Regional Commissioner and Administrative Training Institute (ATI) Director-General Rashmi V. suffered injuries during the attack by a mob recently and “the incident had an effect on her health,” said Karnataka State Women’s Commission chairperson Manjula Manasa.
Ms. Manasa, who met Ms. Rashmi at her residence here on Sunday, told reporters that the officer had sustained minor head injuries, besides losing a molar tooth in the attack.
“She has pain in one eye following the incident,” Ms. Manasa said.
Following Ms. Manasa’s statement it has become known, for the first time, that the senior IAS officer had suffered minor injuries in the attack.
The Association of Concerned and Informed Citizens of Mysore convener and Congress leader M. Lakshmana, who accompanied Ms. Manasa, said, “We came to know from Ms. Rashmi that she had developed clots in the rear portion of her head because of the assaults,” he said, expressing shock over the way the officer was attacked by the unruly mob.
Ms. Rashmi, however, refused to speak to presspersons who tried to seek her reaction to the show-case notice issued by the State government for “indiscipline”.
The IAS officer was assaulted on Wednesday last allegedly by a group of former contract employees of the institute.
The incident occurred on the institute premises.
