The police are closing in on the main accused in the attack on Rashmi V., Director-General of Administrative Training Institute (ATI), that took place on the institute premises on Wednesday.

Police Commissioner M.A. Saleem said the police had identified at least three persons.

“They are from the native place of Venkatesh, ATI’s mess manager who committed suicide on Wednesday,” he said. Mr. Saleem expressed confidence that the attackers would be brought to book.

It may be mentioned that a team from Nazarbad police station had been to Venkatesh’s native place in Kunigal of Tumkur district.

The police have managed to trace the identities of the accused with the help of the television visuals. So far, the city police have arrested 25 persons. They have been remanded in judicial custody.

Meanwhile, the family members of Venkatesh met Mr. Saleem on Monday and requested him to expedite the investigation into the suicide.
