Rape victims to get beds in district hospital ICUs

August 25, 2014 10:39 pm | Updated 10:39 pm IST - MANGALORE:

Sexual assault victims will be provided treatment and counselling in the intensive care unit (ICU) of district hospitals where there will be least interference from public, said Health Minister U.T. Khader.

Talking to presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Khader said the Union government had issued directions to all States to set up a separate cell in district hospitals for such victims, where they should be provided treatment, counselling and other assistance, away from public glare. “Treatment, counselling, recording of statements before police and other tests will be done there,” he said.
