The court hearing the anticipatory bail plea of the accused in the rape and dowry harassment case filed by the daughter of a retired IAS officer, has reserved its order for Tuesday.
The complainant had accused her parents-in-law of tormenting her for dowry, besides levelling charges of rape by her brother-in-law.
A local court heard the arguments by the lawyer representing the accused who sought anticipatory bail, arguing that the allegations against them were far-fetched.
Arun Kumar, advocate for the accused, discounted the rape allegations, furnishing reports of a few medical tests performed as part of the regular gynaecological examination conducted on the complainant who was then in the eighth month of her pregnancy when the alleged rape took place.
These tests were conducted within days of the alleged incident as part of routine examination and none of the medical reports indicated of rape or any abnormality, argued the advocate.
Public prosecutor Mahantappa argued that the accused being influential persons could tamper with evidence and hence wanted the bail plea to be rejected.
The judge who heard both the sides reserved the order for Tuesday.
