The former Lok Sabha Member Ramya on Monday denied reports that she had complained against several local Congress leaders with the All-India Congress Committee, alleging that they had worked against her in the recently concluded general elections.

Ms. Ramya, who lost the MP seat to her nearest opponent C.S. Puttaraju of Janata Dal (Secular) recently, received a warm welcome from her fans and Congress leaders at the Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday.

Addressing the gathering, she said that she had not filed any complaint against any leaders with either AICC or the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).

Ms. Ramya also denied reports that she had vacated her residence here.

Stating that veteran Congress leader Sadat Ali Khan had given one of his houses to her without charging any rent, she requested her fans not to believe such reports.

“I have not vacated my house. As promised to the people of Mandya, I will stay with them. I will open my office here and construct a house too," she said.

It may be recalled that recently, a section of the media had reported that Ms. Ramya had vacated her house and complained against the party leaders, immediately after losing the poll battle.

She said that she would continue to donate shoes and laptops to students, drip irrigation kits to farmers and take up other social works through her R.T. Narayan Charitable Trust, established in her father's name. Meanwhile, her fans from different parts of the district, cutting across the party affiliations, felicitated Ms. Ramya.

Ms. Ramya inaugurated the programme by distributing saplings to several farmers. Mandya District Congress Committee (MDCC) working president P.M. Somashekar, Congress leaders Ko.Pu. Gunashekar, Mallaradhya Prasanna, Hosahalli Bore Gowda, Sharada Rameshraju, Anilkumar and others were present.
