A large number of volunteers from various organisations, students from colleges, including Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) took out an awareness rally here on Sunday to mark World Tuberculosis (TB) Day.

The medical students distributed publicity materials about TB. The students were also seen sending out the message that TB is controllable and treatable. It could be treated effectively with Directly Observed Treatment.

The students raised slogans urging people to become more aware.
The rally passed through the main roads before culminating at the Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Kalamandir where District Principal and Sessions Judge B. Shivalinge Gowda inaugurated a programme to mark the day.
Every member of the society had a role to play in the fight against the TB, he said.
