Tipu Jayanti memorandum

Members of Tipu Sultan Sangharsha Samiti took out a procession in Belagavi today to demand action against leaders who they said had publicly insulted the late warrior king.

They said that the State government should initiate action against Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde, MP Suresh Angadi and Ramakanth Kundaskar, leader of the Sri Ram Sene, who had used abusive language against Tipu. They marched to the Deputy Commissioner’s office and handed over a memorandum to the government. Arif Katgeri, Imran K., Saleem S, and others were present.

Meanwhile, the district administration has included the names of Mr. Hegde and Mr. Angadi in the invitation cards for the Tipu Jayanti celebrations, as per protocol. These leaders had asked the government not to include their names as they would not attend the anniversary of a “communally divisive” leader.
