Rajkumar to be part of curriculum next year

Ideals cherished by legendary actor Dr. Rajkumar and his contribution to Kannada and culture will be part of the curriculum from the next academic year. A statue of the thespian actor will be installed on the premises of Kannada Sangha, New Delhi, by 2018.

Home Minister G. Parameshwara announced the inclusion of a chapter on Dr. Rajkumar in the curriculum at a function organised by the Karnataka government at Kanteerava Studio to mark the birth anniversary celebrations of the late actor. Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar promised a statue of the actor at Kannada Sangha at the event organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations at Ravindra Kalakshetra.

The Kanteerava Studio in Bengaluru, where Dr. Rajkumar is buried, was the centre for the birthday celebrations. Fans from across the State lined up to pay respects at his samadhi. His wife Parvathamma Rajkumar, sons Shivarajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkumar and Puneet Rajkumar were present. Stalwarts of Kannada film industry, including Rockline Venkatesh, Dwarakish and Lahari Velu, visited. The late actor’s fans organised blood donation and eye donation camps in various parts of the State. Temporary shops, set up outside Kanteerava Studio, sold photo albums, books, and music CDs featuring the late actor.
