Even though rainfall receded marginally in Kodagu on Thursday, landslips on the highway leading to Kerala near Perumbadi checkpost in Virajpet has hit the movement of traffic.

Several parts of Kodagu received heavy overnight rains causing landslips and tree falls. Portions of the highway leading to Kerala from South Kodagu collapsed, posing a threat to vehicles. The road is now out of bounds for vehicles and the district police will come out with an alternative route.

The district administration declared a holiday for schools and colleges on Thursday. Though the rains came down marginally in several parts of the district, Bhagamandala continued to receive rains, leading to flooding of the region.

Kodagu district had received 121.62 mm of rains during the last 24 hours.
