Heavy rain, accompanied by strong wind on Wednesday night has caused extensive damage to properties in Mandya and Pandavapura taluks. However, there were no reports of any casualty from anywhere in the district.

According to sources at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, heavy rain, accompanied by wind, occurred at Pandavapura, K.R. Pet and Mandya on Wednesday night and caused inconvenience to people.

Extensive damage was reported from Doddabyadarahalli in Pandavapura, an official of Revenue Department said.

While a house constructed with mud completely collapsed, a traditional jaggery making unit (Alemane), Pattaladamma temple, Shankar Mutt and three houses have been damaged at Doddabyadarahalli.

In Mandya, several electricity poles and trees were uprooted near the Deputy Commissioner’s office and Halahalli. The tin roof top of a cattle shed was blown away due to strong winds in Vidya Nagar here.
