Weather woes:Lights rain and high speed wind damaged electricity poles and trees at Doddarisanekere in Mandya district late on Saturday night.

Light rain accompanied by high speed wind lashed some villages in the district, providing much-needed respite from the sweltering heat on Saturday night.

Nevertheless, the weather caused many electricity poles to fall, uprooted trees and damaged the roof tiles of houses in many villages.

According to revenue officials, daily life was affected in Doddarasinakere near Kala Muddana Doddi in Maddur taluk, Kannali in Mandya taluk and Honaganahalli, near Kirugavalu, in Malavalli taluk. A bullock cart and a motorcycle were damaged, and roof-tiles of many houses flew-off owing to strong wind in Doddarasinakere.

Power supply was disrupted for several hours since Saturday night at Ambarahalli, Sabbanahalli, Gopanahalli, Chikkamarigowdana Doddi and Doddarasinakere owing to the falling of electricity poles, sources at Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) said.

The CESC said it would restore the power supply by replacing the damaged poles by Monday afternoon.
